課程概述 |
儘管空氣對於地球上所有生命都是至關緊要，長久以來它卻甚少受到社會科學注意。然而，近十 年來地理學界的「量體轉向」 (volumetric turn) 和「空氣學」(aerographies) 興起，以及全球氣候變 遷和發生眾多「大氣事件」(包括冰島火山爆發、催淚瓦斯、核試驗、COVID-19 等等)，都顯示空 氣為當代關鍵的技術、治理與政治場域。空氣和大氣除了作為科學探究對象以外，也是具有活力 的介質和物質，時刻包覆和構建我們的生活，更有著形塑人類歷史的「元素力量」(the force of the elemental)。
本課程設定為大學部中高級與研究所入門課程，旨在介紹地理學、人類學、科技與社會研究 (STS) 等跨領域前沿文獻。課程將從「空氣」(air)、「大氣/氛圍」(atmospheres)、「氣候」 (climate)、「天氣」(weather) 等核心概念出發，期待學生收獲量體研究、政治生態學、現象學等 理論視野，從多角度分析當代重要的環境議題與政治現象。
因此，課程主要分為三大部份。第一部分把重點放在量體中的大氣技術與生命/死亡政治 (biopolitics and necropoltiics)，涵蓋空氣污染、化學毒氣、傳染病與醫療實踐等課題。我們會探討 空氣如何被各種權力與行動者，以不同方式設計、分配、爭逐和抵抗。第二部分會聚焦於天氣世 界 (weather world) 和氣候變遷，探討在人類世 (the Anthropocene) 之下，天氣與社會運作和日常生 活的交纏關係。第三部分則關注瀰漫四周，充滿意義的政治氣候 (political climate)、情動氛圍 (affective atmosphere) 與身體感。我們也會特別從「呼吸」(breathe and breathing) 的角度切入，討 論藝術、詩歌、不同文化傳統的呼吸經驗和調適方法 (attunements)，如何啟發我們思考政治及倫 理實踐的公共性和可能性。

1. 探討圍繞空氣，在空氣之中的治理議題、政治技術和公民行動。
2. 了解空氣、大氣、氛圍、天氣等概念的社會物質含義 (social materialities)
3. 培養獨立思考、批判性閱讀學術文章、建立研究問題意識的能力

課程要求 |
1. 每周作業 (45%)，針對每周兩篇讀本，分選其中一篇， (1) 深入五百字摘要， 並且 (2) 找尋文 章相關新聞事件 (中文英文不限，請貼全文與新聞連結)，並且 (3) 進行評析 (300-500 字)，以 及 (4) 課後將該周上課自我反思整理。請大家從第二 周開始繳交每周作業，其中前三項是在 上課前兩天晚上 23 點前完成，第四項於上課後兩天 23 點前完成。作業一律上傳到 NTU COOL 討論區。
2. 課程參與(15%)，除了踴躍發言，有料批評 (7.5%)，從第二周起，每周兩篇文章，分別有兩個 同學各自負責導讀評析與紀錄 (7.5 %)，內容包括作者介紹、文章背景、文章重點，並彙整同學整理之新聞與摘要，提出有意義發問，導讀者在課後將討論做成紀錄。輪值的同學當周不用交該篇文章摘要。 碩士班優先輪第二次。
3. 期末報告:空氣研究之重要學者介紹(40%)，挑選一個大氣、空氣、氛圍等主題相關的學者，進行該作者之文獻閱 讀，並針對該學者之研究發展歷程、所提出之重要概念，進行理論回顧。(參考學者:Adey,
